This year temples of Chardham circuit in Uttarakhand are opening from 22 April, 2012 itself. Every year millions of people visiting Chardham circuit during Yatra period as these four main canters of pilgrimage in Uttarakhand, namely Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri & Yamunotri are considered one of the most sacred and important sites of Hindu devotees.
Though the main Chardhams of India are Badrinath Jee in Uttrakhand, Dwarka Jee in Gujrat, Jagannath-Puri in Orissa & Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu but Badrinath Jee in Uttrakhand is considered as one of the most significant in all four Dhams. Earlier Badrinath Jee along with Kedarnath Jee, Shri Gangotri & Yamunotri are called Chota Chardham but now this circuit called Chardham of Uttarakhand due to increasing popularity every year.
According to Hindu mythology & devotees believe that a person should experience chardham Yatra at least once in their life to free him/her all past sins and one can find the great peace of mind as all these sites are blessed with extreme power of GOD with natural beauty.
